The mission of Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program (IVROP) Project JUNTOS (Together) is to assist in the improvement of the overall quality of life in the Imperial County by fostering healthy marriages and families, healthy lifestyles, educational advancement, and economic independence. We will offer these services to all project participants on a voluntary basis.

The goals of the project are:

  • Increase healthy marriages and two-parent households.
  • Increase healthy relationships among young couples.
  • Educate premarital couples equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to form and sustain healthy marriages.
  • Educate youth and young adults with the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about healthy relationships, including skills to help them eventually form and sustain healthy marriages.
  • Increase public awareness about the value of healthy marriages and provide skills and knowledge to help couples sustain healthy marriages and families.
  • Educate couples on the dangers of domestic violence and its effects on children.  Educate couples on healthy marriage, parenting, physical health, mental health, financial health, communication, occupational training, and employability.

"...Finally, preliminary research shows that marriage education workshops can make a real difference in helping married couples stay together and in encouraging unmarried couples who are living together to form a more lasting bond.  Expanding access to such services to low income couples, perhaps in concert with job training and placement, medical coverage, and other services already available, should be something everybody can agree on..."
